The homepage for New Zealand Service Rifle Shooting
2008 burns on by. Reports from other clubs up and down the country have service style shoots on the increase. This is good news for shooters and provides an outlet for those who wish to compete in practical competition with military rifles, pistols and shotguns. Anzac day this year saw another excellent turnout to shoot around the country and it is good to see such a fine tradition going so well. Next year, make sure you front up at a local SR club with a .303 in hand, you will not be disappointed. Our new service match code is finished and up for it's final reading. SMC 4 is designed to permit the use of military optics on semi automatic rifles other than what they were issued for. This recognizes the amount of SIG, AUG and Ar15 rifles now turning up at regional and national matches.
Our MissionThe NZSRA was formed to develop and promote practical style matches throughout New Zealand. Our task is to provide support to affiliated clubs and members in the areas of match design, range officer training, match rules and suitable firearm types. We provide opportunities for national and international events and constantly strive to provide and build our sport. Service rifle shooting is constantly being developed and a distinctive New Zealand style is emerging. It is our goal to develop the sport and promote it across similar shooting disciplines. We act as an advocate for licensed shooters and provide a fun, competitive arena for historic, classic and exotic firearms that shooters once seldom saw on the range. Above all, NZSRA is dedicated to the safe, competitive use of military firearms in an enjoyable environment and seek to hold regular national and international events. NZSRA has recently designed and run a NZ Police approved Range Officer course designed for clubs who shoot practical rifle , pistol and shotgun events.
